Hazel Doreen Heath

December 22, 1926 — August 2, 2015

Hazel Doreen Heath, 88, of Moberly passed away on August 2, 2015 at The Arbors at Ravenwood Terrace in Moberly, MO. She was born to Melvin and Cynthia (Toalson) Heath on December 22, 1926 in Randolph County, MO near Clark. She graduated as Valedictorian of Moberly Junior College in 1946 where she studied business. She was a member of Junior Theta Kappa Epsilon. Doreen also attended LaSalle Extension University in Chicago where she studied Law. She was a very independent, humble, and consummate professional. Her coworkers and supervisors knew her for her fast and accurate typing skills, well in excess of 100 words per minute. Her fingers were an amazing blur as they flew over the keyboard. Doreen’s short hand and her ability to take dictation were also exceptional. She possessed diligence, competence, and loyalty. She came to work to “work”, and no one ever worked harder. Doreen was always the first to the copier, fax machine, or shredder and never missed a day of work. She was an avid reader including the Wall Street Journal and the best seller list. Doreen was often seen walking around town to the bank, grocery store, and every day to work. She began working at Orscheln Brothers Trucklines at the age of 16 and became the secretary to the president, Bill Orscheln. Following the closing of that business she went to work for the law office of Hunter, Chamier, Lee, Elsberry, and Brown. In 1992 she went to work for the Orscheln Law Department at age 65, an age when many contemplate retirement. She continued to work fulltime for 21 more years until her transfer to Orscheln Records Retention Center in 2013. Reluctantly, she retired in May of 2015 due to failing health. A highlight was when her coworkers honored her on her 80th birthday with a party, a personalized parking spot, a St Louis Cardinal jacket, and front row tickets to a Cardinal’s game. She was of the Baptist faith. Doreen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Thomas Heath in 1958 and her sister, Marjorie Satterly who passed away on July 31, 2015. Survivors include her niece, Glenna Greene and husband Kimber of Moberly, MO; great nephews: Matthew Dunseith of Moberly, MO, and Mark Dunseith and wife Gina of Oklahoma City, OK; niece, Molly Mae Greene of Moberly, MO. She was a proud supporter of her family’s activities and accomplishments. At Doreen’s request, a graveside ceremony will take place on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly with Rev. John Davidson officiating. Arrangements have been handled by Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Little Dixie Regional Library of Moberly.
