Mary Wiltse Emery

Mary Wiltse Emery, 88, of Higbee, Missouri passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the University of Missouri Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on August 12, 1928 in Saginaw, Michigan a daughter of the late James and Viola (Shury) Wiltse. She married Theodore “Ted” Emery on August 21, 1948 and were married fifty years before he preceded her in death. Mary spent her life working with children, she started as a teacher’s aid for the Duval County Public Schools and then earned a degree from University of North Florida and became a teacher. After many years in the Florida area, she moved to Higbee, Missouri where she continued her love for children by being in the Foster-Grandparent program from 2001 until 2014. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing puzzles and was most happy when her family was near. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Wiltse. Mary is survived by her children: Dru (Jim) Baker of Louisburg, Missouri, Jim (Theresa) Emery of Atlantic Beach, Florida, and Mary (Lee) Hall of Higbee, Missouri, grandchildren: Brandon (Heidi) Baker, Courtney (Tom) McCaughey, Chrissy (Jason) Hayes, Kathryn (Carolina) Hall, and Krysta (Jeremy Kirkendoll) Hall; and 12 great grandchildren. In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Million Taylor with Pastor Ron Forman officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the Moberly Animal Shelter.
