Melvin J. (Mel) Vilt

Melvin J. Vilt age, 69, of Moberly, Mo. passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at his home. Mel was born April 4, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, to James Fredrick and Agnes Ann (Novotny) Vilt. He served his Country in the United States Airforce for 20 years before retiring in 1988. Mel was a member of Moberly Fraternal Order of the Eagles #2669. Recently he was elected State Vice-President of Missouri State Aerie Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was an Elks, VFW, and Moose Lodge member as well. Mel also served as a Boy Scout Master in Okinawa. He was preceded in death by his son, David Kinjo Vilt. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Virginia Vilt of Moberly, Missouri; sons: Calvin Vilt and Tony Wilkerson, both of Moberly, Missouri, and Stephen Vilt of Boulder, Colorado; daughter, Anna Mariea Douglas of Cordova, South Carolina; brother, Donald Vilt of Columbia, South Carolina; sister, Rose Antoon of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren: Calvin "C.J" Vilt, Jr., Cade Vilt, Keegan Vilt, Keyaira Wilkerson, Stevi Wilkerson, Isbella Wilkerson, Angel Wilkerson, Benjamin Pelton. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly, Missouri. A meal will be held at the Moberly Eagles starting at 6:00 p.m. following visitation. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. a service will take place at the Eagles. Inurnment will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, Missouri under the direction of Million Taylor Funeral Homes. Memorial donations may be made to the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cancer Fund, c/o Moberly FOE #2669, 1408 N. Morley St., Moberly, Missouri, 62570.
