Catherine U. Justus

Catherine U-Van Justus, affectionately known as Cathy, was born on November 13, 1946, in Columbia, Missouri to Claude and Garnett (Williamson) Wheeler. She departed this life peacefully on November 24, 2025, at Aspire Senior Living, surrounded by her loving family.

Cathy dedicated over 25 years of her life as a Home Health Manager at the Randolph County Health Department, where she provided invaluable care and support to countless individuals. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her profound kindness and her ability to put others before herself. Family and friends will always remember her as a caretaker and a safety net for those around her—a true embodiment of compassion and selflessness.

Throughout her life, Cathy was not just a devoted professional but also a loving mother to daughters, Shelly Smith and Becky Clark, who cherish the memories of their time together. Cathy had a zest for life that included a passion for reading and learning. She found joy in shopping trips with her sisters and was a proud supporter of her children and grandchildren, regularly attending their sporting events.

In her personal life, she celebrated significant accomplishments, including marrying Woodrow Wright on December 31, 1971, in Moberly, Missouri, and later marrying Edgar Justus in August of 2007.

Cathy's legacy will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege to know her.

Cathy is survived by her two daughters; Shelly (Robert) Smith of Higbee, MO, Becky (Danny) Clark of Higbee, MO, step daughters; Jennifer (Keith) Ehrett and Jackie Justus both of Moberly, MO, sister; Donna Wray (Claire) of Macon, MO, and Debbie Inskip of Stratford, MO, as well as thirteen grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Claude and Garnett Wheeler, her first husband Woodrow Wright, her second husband Edgar Justus, son; Roger Lewis Christy, and several stepchildren; Floyd Wright, Lloyd Wright, Kenneth Wright, Lyvola Hogsett, Katheryn Van Lue, and Bob Justus, siblings; Dorothy Miller, Theresa Moss, Terry Wheeler and Roxanne Nickerson.

Cathy’s life was a testament to her unwavering love for her family and her dedication to caring for others. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
