Charles O. Bailey, 78, of Moberly passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Moberly Nursing & Rehab. Charles was born to the late Thomas Olen and Viola Mae (Belcher) Bailey on July 28, 1938 in Moberly, Missouri. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He and Karen Marie Portell were married August 17, 1984 and celebrated almost 33 years of marriage. Charles worked for DuPont in Moberly as a security guard before it closed. He was a member of Central Christian Church, a lifetime member of the VFW, past member of the American Legion, Eagles, and Moose. Charles loved to work in the yard and to garden. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, working on radios, and loved every John Wayne movie made. Survivors include his wife, Karen Marie Bailey of Moberly, Missouri; son, Charles R. (Kim) Bailey of LaGrange, Missouri; step-son, Ken (Terri) Pollite of Potosi, Missouri; step-daughter, Darla (Keith) Stenzel of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Brenda (Steve) Ballew of Highland Michigan; grandchildren: Dakota, Makayla, and Trevor; great grandchild, Annie Mae Bailey; nephews: Tom (Cassie) Ballew, Nick (Natalie) Ballew, and Eric (Melissa) Ballew; 3 great nieces; and 1 great nephew. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly with Pastor Mark Tisch officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to his wife, Karen Bailey.
