Charlotte May Wohlbold

March 3, 1944 — October 18, 2025

Charlotte Wohlbold, 81, of Moberly, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

She was born on March 3, 1944, in Knob Noster, Missouri. She was a daughter to Avery and Rose Colwell. Charlotte was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and well known for her kindness and generosity to everyone who knew her.

Charlotte’s giving spirit was the reason why she worked most of her life as a nurse for the elderly. She worked at Pleasant View Nursing home, the Mark Twain Nursing Home in Huntsville, Missouri, where she spent over 20 years. She always said Bill and Debbie Fish were the best people she ever worked for because they really loved and cared for people. Prior to her retirement in 2014 she worked at the Veterans Home in Mexico, Missouri. She loved caring for others, which she considered a privilege. Many people knew her by her nicknames of CW or Charlie.

Anyone who knew Charlotte knew she was one of Elvis’ biggest fans and had memorabilia of him throughout her house. In her spare time, she loved to read books, as she always stated she could travel anywhere in a good book. She also loved a good bargain, and you would always find her on Saturday mornings driving around town to all the garage sales or shopping at the Goodwill store. She was also a lover of all food, a strong cup of black coffee, French fries or her most favorite, a bag of potato chips. Some people may have recognized her for her voice since she was a frequent caller of the Kwix/Kres Party Line as she loved participating in their trivia games or calling about recipes. They all knew her on a first name basis when she would call. The last few years of her life were probably the most enjoyable because her granddaughter Sara would take her on lots of adventures. She was able to go on several trips to see her sisters and travel the world, including her most favorite, Hawaii, twice. She thought there was no better feeling than putting your feet in the sand and listening to the sound of the ocean. If you ever were to ask her how she was doing her response was always the same, “If I was any better, I’d be a twin,” which always seemed to get a laugh.

Charlotte is survived by her three sons, Don Wiley, Chuck Wiley and Joshua Farnsworth; three daughters, Lori (Ed) Crum, Jessica Buck and Dallas (John) Baker; eleven grandchildren, Alisha Owens, Nathan Vaughn, Sara Wiley, Mataya Miller, Xavier Farnsworth, Savannah Rector, Hallie Buck, Josh Crum, Kayla, Mackenzie and Zachary Baker; nine great grandchildren, Landon Wiley, Myles Wilhite, Lester (LJ) Martin, Kelan Sutphin, Kinglee Ferrel, Hannah, Emily Paxtyn and Willow Vaughn; five great-great grandchildren, Janika and Anjelica Gutierrez, Liam and Logan McConnell and Hartliee Fontaine; one brother David Colwell; three sisters, Debbie Moore, Bonnie Nagel, and Cheryl Gilkinson as well as several nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Celeste Vaughn, brother Troy Colwell and daughter-in-law Jan Wiley.

Charlotte attended and was baptized at the First Christian Church in Paris, Missouri until she moved to Moberly. She later attended church at Family Life Fellowship in Moberly until her health started to decline.

Charlotte never wanted to be a burden to anyone, which is why she decided that she wanted to be cremated. She thought if her ashes were spread out in the world then she would be able to continue her travels forever.
