Donald David “Big D” Davis, 71, of Jacksonville, Mo. passed away Wednesday March 2, 2011 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo. He was born February 26, 1940 to George A.Y. and Doris Ruth Delaney Davis in Moberly, Mo. Big D served in the U. S. Army from 1959 to 1961 and retired from the Army National Guard of Missouri in 1997. He married Janet Jolene Thomas. He served in law enforcement as a police officer, a deputy sheriff and a police chief. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Madison and a past member of the Madison Lions Club. He was an avid Hunter and Fisherman, loved his dogs, loved baseball and especially loved his grandchildren. He is survived by a son, Daniel Dean Davis of Centralia, Mo. a daughter, Deborah and Chris Roberts of Jacksonville, Mo. a sister, Judy and Don Thomas of Madison, Mo., five grandchildren, Danille Rowan, Alicia Walter, Brittny Pagliai, Brooke Walter and Davis Walter, five great grandchildren, Trey Walter, Drayden Walter, Cayden Walter, Devyn Rowan and Tatym Pagliai, a neice, Sara Callison and two nephews, Keith and Jerry Thomas. He was preceded by his parents, one son, and one great grandson. Family suggests memorials to: Sunset Hill Cemetery at Madison, Mo.
