Donald Lee Hampton Sr., 81, of Higbee, passed away at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia on Monday, February 2, 2015. Donald was born in St. Louis, MO on November 3, 1933 to Albert Hampton and Margaret Parker Hampton. He married Carol Ann Burgess October 13, 1951 in Pocahontas, Arkansas and they moved to Higbee in 1972. He worked as a mechanic for A.B. Kelly in Moberly and later owned Hill Top Garage in Higbee. He also worked at Continental Baking Company in Columbia, MO and when he retired, he became the proud owner of his own orchard, Hampton’s Hilltop Orchard in Higbee. Donald loved to fish with his grandchildren. He taught them to fish and to play chess. His family was his hobby. He enjoyed working in the family orchard, running his brushhog around the farm, and he especially loved his dogs. Those preceding Donald in death are his parents, a son, Michael Dennis Hampton, a brother and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; his son Donald L. Hampton Jr. ( Cindi) of Jefferson City, daughter Julie A. Morgan (Mike) of Higbee; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, extended family and friends. Services for Donald will be Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in the Higbee City Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 11:00 until time of service, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Compassion Ministries, C/O Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 2197 Six Mile Lane, Moberly, MO 65270. Pathway Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
