Donnald Eugene Atkins

Donnald Eugene Atkins, age 81, of Higbee, MO, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2025, at his home.

Donnie was born on March 25, 1944, in Marshall, MO, to Annie (Major) and Ernest Atkins. He graduated from Fayette High School in 1962. He worked several years as a parts man at businesses in the Moberly area as well as Universal Coal Mine. He retired from Thomas Hill Power Water Supply District. A man of faith, Donnald was a member of the Federated Church of Blackwater.

He enjoyed model railroading, woodworking, Nascar, and making friends everywhere he went. Donnie’s family and friends will always remember him for being outspoken, enjoying life, and the ability to fix anything. He loved his family and was a great father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was loved by many.

Donnie is preceded in death by his father and mother; infant sister, Anita Atkins; grandson, Christopher Hess; and niece, Jamie Huddleston.

He is survived by his children, Deborah (Kim) Hess, of Moberly, MO, Troy (Sharon) Ratliff, of Higbee, MO, Rusty (Carrie) Ratliff, of Higbee, MO, Terri (Wes) Peters, of Moberly, MO; sister, Janice Huddleston, of Higbee, MO; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service celebrating Donnie’s life has been scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2025, at 11:00 am at Southern Randolph Christian Chapel in Higbee, MO. Donations may be sent to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Donnie’s memory.
