Earle H. Johnson

June 11, 1925 — October 19, 2018

Earle H. Johnson, 93, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018. Earle was born to Gustave and Amelia (Nielson) Johnson on June 11, 1925, in Moberly, Missouri. In 1944, he and Elizabeth Stelljes were married. Earle worked for the Wabash & Norfolk Southern Railroads for 40 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; son, Ronald Johnson; grandchild, John Gregory Sasek; as well as brothers and sisters. Earle is survived by his daughters: Janet Crutcher, Carol Johnson, Lois Minor, and Sandra Meyer; grandchildren: John Christopher Minor, Aimee Minor Flood, Matthew Brendan Meyer, Leslie Padgett Garrett, Jennifer Padgett Field, Derek Anthony Meyer; and 17 great-grandchildren Earle was accomplished at repairing electronics and cars. He was the kind of father that could fix anything, including their cars even after they were grown and continued by helping his grandchildren. He was always there to help Leslie and Jennifer as a handyman. He loved talking about cars with his grandson Greg. He would drop anything he was doing to help his children. Earle spent his life putting his family first and sacrificed his own needs to accomplish this. He was a kind and patient father and a loving husband. He often said the secret to their happy marriage was the early realization that his wife was always right. He had a wonderful sense of humor, which he shared particularly with his daughter, Sandy. He passed on his love for animals to all of his children, especially his son Ronnie and daughter Carol. He loved the long phone calls with his oldest daughter, Lois. He always said though they were many miles apart it didn't matter as long as they talked on the phone, although he did admit sometimes it was hard to get a word in. He always gave his daughter Janet encouragement and loved spending time with her grandchildren when he visited her daycare. He had a special relationship with his great-grandson Carter in the past few years. Carter brought back many memories for him because they were so much alike. All of Earle's children and grandchildren were blessed to have him in their lives. His example will inspire many generations of the Johnson family. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Brad Fuemmeler officiating. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Earle H. Johnson please visit our Sympathy Store.
