Elaine M. Wiesner

April 10, 1927 — November 13, 2022

Elaine Mary (Hupe) Wiesner died peacefully on Sunday,

November 13th at 95 years of age.  She was born in St. Charles, MO on April 10th, 1927 and was the eldest of three children born to Leo and Luanna (Mispagel) Hupe.

Elaine met the love of her life, the late Joseph E. Wiesner, while working at the Veteran's Records Administration Building in St. Louis, MO.  They were united in Holy Matrimony on September 25th, 1948 and were blessed with 63 years of marriage.  The true love and partnership she and her husband shared will be forever remembered and admired by all who witnessed it.

Besides being a devoted wife, Elaine was the loving mother of Michael S. Wiesner (Sharon), Susan Wiesner McCowan Durfee (John), Thomas J. Wiesner and LeeAnn Wiesner Phillips, and grandmother of Michelle Sopp (Sam), Kristi Wiesner (Travis Connaway), Ashley Young (Jack), Jon McCowan (Jenny), Jeffrey McCowan (Linda), MaryJo Howard (John), Jared McCowan (Morgan), Alex Wiesner (fiancée Sierra), Nick Wiesner, Justin Phillips (Becca), and Ryan Phillips (Lindsay).

She was also a sweet, doting great-grandmother to Rylie Sopp, Raegan & Tatum Connaway, Harper Young, JonGarrett McCowan, Grace & Emily McCowan, Lainey Kate, Chloe & MaryGrace Howard, and Maddox & Micah McCowan.

Elaine is also survived by sister-in-law Deloris Chapie.

In addition to her late husband, Elaine was proceeded in death by her beloved younger siblings, Margaret Lee Cox and Charlie Hupe, brother-in-law Peter Cox, sister-in-law Jackie Hupe, son-in-law Gary McCowan, infant grandson Brian Christopher Wiesner and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A woman of deep faith, Elaine loved God and her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Elaine was the personification of kindness, thoughtfulness and devotion to those she loved and joyfully embraced her roles of wife, mother, grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:15am on ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Friday, December 2nd, 2022 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Moberly, MO.  A private burial rite will be held in the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery where she will finally be re-united with her beloved husband, Joseph.

Elaine was known for tirelessly mailing birthday, get-well, anniversary, sympathy, congratulations and "thinking-of-you" cards.  In lieu of flowers, please send an appropriate card to someone who would benefit from such an act of kindness.  As she would say, "Reach out and touch someone."

The family wishes to thank all the compassionate care-givers, nurses, doctors and hospice staff who were devoted to Elaine at the Lenoir Woods Health Care Center in Columbia, MO and who helped her transition from this world to one of eternal life.
