Erma Jean Stross, born on August 12, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She lived a full and meaningful life, marked by dedication to her career, family, and community.
Erma graduated from Jennings High School in St. Louis, Missouri. She began her journey in becoming a nurse at Maryville, St. Louis and graduated with her nursing degree. She began her nursing career at Normandy Hospital; however the majority of her career was elsewhere and in many different nursing positions. Later, she devoted her time and care as a hospice nurse, bringing comfort and compassion to many during difficult times.
On November 28, 1964, Erma married Richard Stross in St. Louis, Missouri. Together they shared many years of love and companionship. Erma will be fondly remembered for her kindness and generosity by all who knew her. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, which was an important part of her life.
Beyond her professional and spiritual commitments, Erma enjoyed quilting, knitting, water aerobics classes at her local YMCA, reading, and planting flowers. These hobbies enriched her life and brought joy to those around her.
She was the loving wife of Richard Stross of Moberly, Missouri, and the proud grandmother of Joshua (Alisa) Kirkbride, also from Moberly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Edna (Bishop) Miner, and her daughter, Julie Kirkbride.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Erma during a visitation on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Both events will take place at Pathway Millard Family Funeral Chapel, located at 411 Union Ave, Moberly, Missouri.
Erma's gentle spirit and caring nature touched many lives. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
