Evelyn Irene Brown

Evelyn Irene Brown, 85, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away on September 13, 2026, at Aspire Senior Living in Moberly, Missouri.

Evelyn was born on November 18, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Matthew Kauzlarich and Mary (Stopka) Kauzlarich. She graduated from Versailles High School and later moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she accepted a position with a telephone company.

On November 24, 1961, Evelyn married Charles L. Brown in Tipton, Missouri. She then devoted much of her life to being a homemaker and caring for her family. Over the years, she also worked several part-time jobs and generously gave her time volunteering in hospital gift shops.

Evelyn was a member of Midway Heights Baptist Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball, where she was a pitcher, and spent many years participating in a bowling league. She also enjoyed playing cards and had a special love for animals.

Those who knew Evelyn will remember her kind heart, wonderful sense of humor, and talent in the kitchen. She was a wonderful cook and found joy in the simple things in life and the people she loved.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Charles D. Brown (Carma J.) of Columbia, Missouri, and John M. Brown (Stephanie) of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter in law, Mary Kay Brown; numerous grandchildren, Allison, Madison, Charles, Jessica, Hannah, Daphnee, Elizabeth, Kaeylyn, Avery, Faith, and Gracie; and great grandchildren, Sydney, Eloise, Stella, and Rhodes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Brown; son, Mark L. Brown; parents, Matthew and Mary Kauzlarich; and brother, Matthew Kauzlarich Jr.

Though Evelyn will be deeply missed, the love, laughter, and memories she shared throughout her life will remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

An Inurnment will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Missouri State Veteran's Cemetery, Jacksonville, MO.
