Florence Louise Sumpter

Florence “Louise” Sumpter, 93, of Higbee passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. Louise was born to Charles and Opal (McGruder) Grapes on October 6, 1922 in Howard County, Missouri. During her early years, Louise worked at Reed’s Corner as a waitress and this is where she met her future husband Rollin Sumpter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rollin Sumpter; sons: Larry Cleeton Sr. and Herschell Sumpter; brothers: J.W Grapes, Charles Grapes, and Harold Wayne Grapes; sister-in-laws: Doris Grapes, Mary Grapes, and Gladys Grapes. Louise is survived by her daughter: Wanda Cleeton of Moberly; son, Gary Wayne Sumpter of Higbee; daughters-in-law, Sharon Cleeton of Moberly and Barb Sumpter of Higbee; grandchildren: Jennifer Woods, Larry Cleeton, Jr., Deloris Young, Brenda Maldonado, Edith Brockman, Brian Sumpter, Randy Sumpter, and Jamie Sumpter; and14 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Higbee with John Bill Spilman officiating.
