George Thomas Coureton

George Thomas Coureton of Cairo, MO, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on September 22, 1937, to Roy and Bessie Coureton in Evansville, MO. George’s life was marked by quiet dignity and enduring strength. He married Betty Luck in July of 1968 and worked as a foreman for Double Cola for 47 years.

Throughout his years, George touched many lives with his character and presence. George enjoyed fishing and bowling, but most of all spending time with his family. His memory endures with those who had the privilege of knowing him.

George is survived by his sisters, Sadie and Patty; children, Jerry Coureton (Tammy) of Moberly, MO, Randy Coureton (Kim) of Fulton, MO, Karen Abueg of Las Vegas, NV, Lora Pagett of Moberly, MO; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Betty; son, Billy Coureton; three sisters, Helen, Bessie Lee and Mildred; and two brothers, Dallas and Charles.

A celebration of life for George will take place at a later date.
