George Foster Pitts, Jr., of Moberly, MO departed this good earth and went to his heavenly home Thursday February 4, 2016 at Moberly Nursing and Rehab. He had just turned 90. George was born in Roanoke, MO on January 11, 1926, son of George Foster Pitts, Sr. and Nellie (Tevis) Pitts. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jane (Blair) Pitts and his only child Elizabeth “Kay” Pitts Jackson wife of Denny Jackson, O’Fallon, MO. George was also preceded in death by his sisters Martha Nell Dunivent and Zannie Bowlin. Survivors include wife Genevieve Summers Pitts of Moberly, son-in-law Denny Jackson, granddaughter Jessica Ozinga and husband Ryan of O’Fallon, MO, and grandson Jason Jackson and wife Abby of Troy, MO. Also surviving are four great grandsons, a sister Mary Mosby, Paula Hayslip and Ross & Regina Summers. And George’s pet of many years Myrtle the Turtle. George served in the Army Air Corps, stationed in Alaska and married his wife Jane in 1946. After moving to Moberly he worked as an electronics service technician with Ray Boots. He and wife Jane purchased Mr. Boots business and in 1963 he and Art Riley combined their two businesses to form Art’s Appliance & Furniture Inc. George remained a treasured friend and member of the Art’s team until his death. George loved life and people, especially his family. He loved fishing, boating, water skiing, and hunting. Services will be Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly, visitation from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. Interment will be at Roanoke Cemetery.
