Gregory Lee Prange

Gregory Lee Prange, 72, of Moberly, Missouri, set off on his next great adventure surrounded by the love of his family at his home on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Greg was born on June 26, 1954, in Renick, Missouri, to William “Bill” Prange and Helen (Avery) Prange. He graduated from Moberly Senior High School with the Class of 1972 and wasted no time getting to work. Known for his unmatched work ethic, Greg began his career at Martin Farms before becoming the proud owner and operator of his own semi-truck. He later dedicated 34 years as a heavy equipment operator with AECI, where he retired after a career built on hard work, reliability, and determination.

On September 12, 1972, Greg married the love of his life, Norma Jean Shelton, in Moberly, Missouri. Together they built a marriage that spanned more than five decades, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family.

If you knew Greg, you knew that family came first—always. Every decision he made centered around those he loved most. He was happiest when everyone was together, whether it was out on the lake boating, floating down a river on a canoe trip, taking motorcycle rides, heading into the woods to hunt, cruising the back roads on his side-by-side, or simply spending time swapping stories with family and friends. Greg also had a talent for “making deals.” Whether buying, selling, trading, or negotiating, he enjoyed the thrill of finding a good bargain almost as much as the story that came with it. He never met a stranger for long and had a way of turning everyday conversations into lasting friendships. Adventure called often, and Greg was always ready to answer with a packed bag and a full tank of gas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Helen Prange; his grandparents, Raymond and Fleta Avery; his grandparents, Carl and Maggie Prange; and his in-laws, Guy and Thelma Cottingham.

Greg leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his love and example: his beloved wife, Norma Jean Prange; his son, Douglas Lee Prange and partner Joe Jerek; his daughter, Jeannie Lee (Prange) Hummel and husband Cory Hummel; and the lights of his life, granddaughters Zaylee and Makenna.

He is also survived by his niece, Tracy Levings and husband Victor; great-niece Shelby Mares and husband Adam, along with their sons, Kade and Julian; great-nephew Trenton Levings and fiancée Chloe, along with their son, Ledger; his brothers, Stephen Prange and Kevin Prange, and many cherished life long friends.

To his family, Greg wasn’t simply a husband, dad, grandpa, brother, or uncle—he was the steady hand, the fixer of problems, the voice of reason, the adventure planner, and often the one behind the wheel. He taught by example that hard work matters, family comes first, and life is meant to be enjoyed along the way.

His family will always remember him as the heart behind countless treasured memories—a man who loved deeply, gave generously, and made everyone around him feel safe, welcomed, and valued. While they will miss his stories, his laughter, and his willingness to strike up one more deal, they find comfort knowing that his legacy lives on in every lesson he taught, every adventure he inspired, and every memory shared around the table.

In true Greg fashion, if there are side-by-sides to ride, a beer to crack, deals to be made, or back roads to explore, there’s little doubt he’s already found them. His was a life well lived, well loved, and one that will never be forgotten.

A Memorial visitation will be held in honor of Greg on Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 11 ~ 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Millard Family Funeral Chapel, Moberly, MO.
