Helen Gene Harmon, 84, of Moberly, MO, was surrounded by loved ones when she went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at University Hospital in Columbia.
Helen (who was named after Gene Autry) was born on March 18, 1941, to Roy D. and Bessie Mae (Sumpter) Coureton. She was united in marriage to Jerry Harmon and they both became ordained ministers. They held a non-denominational Bible study in their home with friends.
She enjoyed crafts, crochet, jigsaw puzzles, and needle point. Her favorite shows to watch with friends and family were NCIS, Walker Texas Ranger and CSI. She was always concerned about the neighborhood cats and the raccoon that hid out back.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; son, Wayne Jefferson Stevens; mom, Bessie; and several siblings.
She is survived by her children, Viola Mae (Jo) Baldwin, of Shepherd, MI, Cindy Lee Holtzclaw, of Higbee, MO, Carl Lewis (Tonya) Stevens, of Moberly, MO, William Gene (Robin) Stevens, of Columbia, MO, Helen Rose (David) Terrill, of Cairo, MO, Stanley Lewis Stevens, of Higbee, MO, Roy Daniel Stevens, of Moberly, MO, Dewey Franklin (Sarah) Stevens, of Clarence, MO, Candy Jane Stevens, of Prairie Hill, MO, James Carter (Jessica) Stevens, of St. Louis, MO; 40 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and close friend, Karol Lucas.
A family led Celebration of Life for Helen has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lions Club in Higbee, MO.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
