James E. “Boggsie” Boggs IV, age 73, of Higbee, Missouri, passed away on January 17, 2026, at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was born on January 20, 1952, and would have celebrated his 74th birthday on January 20, 2026.

James was a graduate of Higbee High School, Class of 1971. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a dedicated member of the Higbee Lions Club for over 30 years, where he gave generously of his time in service to his community.

James spent his career in corrections, and prior to retirement served as a Lieutenant at Moberly Correctional Center, where he was respected for his leadership, fairness, and commitment to his work.

James was united in marriage to Dolores June Boggs, and together they shared 53 years side by side, 51 years of marriage, building a life centered on family, loyalty, and love.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores June Boggs; his parents, James Elmer Boggs III and Evelyn Lucille Boggs; his parents-in-law, Laurence Kirke Beale and Eura Mae Beale; his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Beale and Trudy Dorman; his brother-in-law, Mark Kirschman; and his brother-in-law, Tony Lyons.

James is survived by his son, James E. Boggs V, of Higbee, Missouri; his grandchildren, Isabelle Joyner and husband Daniel, of Swansboro, North Carolina; Maycee Boggs, of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; and James E. Boggs VI, of Higbee, Missouri. He is also survived by his bonus grandchildren, Baby Feitan, Oaklynn Murray and Avery Murray, of Huntsville, Missouri, and his great-grandchild, Andrew Joyner.

He is further survived by his siblings: Ernie Boggs and wife Tammy, of St. Genevieve, Missouri; Brenda Dougherty and husband Harry Arthur, of Clark, Missouri; Delmer “Bo” Boggs and wife Penny, of Moberly, Missouri; Judy Kirschman, of Prairie Home, Missouri; Janet Mealy and husband Bill, of Higbee, Missouri; and Rita Lyons, of Higbee, Missouri.

James is also survived by his siblings-in-law: Barbara Kribbs and husband Charles, of Centralia, Missouri; Mary Hafemeister and husband Martin, of Salisbury, Missouri; Larry Beale, of Clark, Missouri; and Ronald Beale and wife Kathy, of Higbee, Missouri.

James will be remembered for his grit, stubborn determination, and unwavering love for his grandchildren and great-grandchild, who brought him immense pride and joy. His presence, strength, and devotion to family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A service celebrating James’ life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 Noon until 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery with Full Military Honors in Jacksonville, Missouri.
