James F Povlovich

December 10, 1941 — October 27, 2025

Cairo

James F. Povlovich, 83 of Cairo, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, MO.

Jim “Jimmy” was born on December 10, 1941, in Brookfield, MO, to Frank and Iva Lee Pavlovich. During his teen years, he spent many hours roller skating at the Brookfield skating rink. Jim worked a paper route distributing the Sunday Kansas City Times and worked at the grocery store, Temple Stephens, and at Pepsi Cola bottling company as a teenager.

Jim moved to Moberly later in life and worked at Banquet Foods in Macon and later at Bratcher’s Market. His friends and family will always remember him and his love of dancing. He participated in every dance held at the Moose and Elk lodge

Jim was in his best spirits when he talked with his brother and niece, Molly, while he was in Senior Care at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon. He loved to laugh with them. Loch Haven Nursing home took good care of Jim for the last three years. He enjoyed the activities, especially the music performers and the church services. Jim was a faithful Christian and accepted the Lord as his Savior.

Jim’s family would like to give a special thanks to his very special friends Patty Clark and Chris Kribbs. Patty was an angel sent from God to Jimmy. She and Chris looked after him, took him on errands, saw to his every need, and kept him supplied with his diet Pepsi and snack cakes. Patty kept in contact with his family to let them know how he was doing. Even though Patty and Chris were not blood relatives, the family cannot thank them enough for their devotion to him.

Jim is survived by his two sons, Greg and James Cook; siblings, Doris (John Henry) Dougherty of Chillicothe, MO, Virginia Harris Scarlett of Clinton, IL, Sharon Povlovich of Kansas City, MO, Joe (Cosette) Povlovich of White Bluff, TN; and nieces, Molly and Megan Collins of Erin, TN.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Iva Lee and Frank Pavlovich; grandparents, Josephine and Joseph Pavlovich, Della (Ingram) and James Slater; stepsisters, Maxine Swank and Mary Mitchell; stepbrother, Marvin Povlovich, all from CA; and beloved dog, Snuggles.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, in Jims’s honor. No services are planned at this time.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, 411 Union Avenue, Moberly, MO 65270 (660)263-7284. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.pathwaymemorial.com.
