Janice Mary Green

July 25, 1933 — February 10, 2022

Janice Mary (Weber) Green, age 88, of Moberly, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 10, 2022.  Jan died at peace surrounded by family and friends.

Janice M. Green (like the color) was born to Harley Ellsworth Weber and Alma Harriet Rebecca Weber on July 25, 1933, in Viroqua, Wisconsin.  She was the daughter of a dairyman and a tobacco farmer, where she helped alongside her cousins working the farm.  She loved her time at and was graduated from Minnesota Bible College.  She ministered as a Sunday School teacher and a camp counselor at an early age. Upon graduating college, she served as a youth minister and taught school in a two-room schoolhouse in Indiana.  She married Fred J. Green, world famous evangelist, in 1961, and they were married for 53 years. In addition to raising 9 exceptional and talented children, she ministered alongside her husband in Indiana, Missouri, and for 16 years in Anchorage, Alaska, where she grew to love the mountains, the people and berry picking.  She had a special bond with Matilda the Moose until her garden was ravaged.

In 1986, Jan and Fred moved back to Missouri to retire (not really), and ministered in Kirksville, Missouri, before beginning their mission work with Salonique Adolphe in Gonaives, Haiti, and helping to nurture the birth of Living Water Christian Mission.  Jan loved her trips to see her Haitian family and to teach the women and children about God’s love and providence.  Throughout her whole life, Jan opened her heart, home and table to anyone who crossed her path, from the servicemen stationed in Alaska away from their families, to her church family, college students, supply preachers and her Dominos competitors.

Even in her later years, Jan did not stop ministering to people and loving on people.  She spent much time teaching, mentoring and demonstrating a servant’s heart at Timber Lake Christian Church.  She ministered up until her last hour of life, giving words of wisdom to everyone that visited, and exhorted pastoral advice on her minister, Daniel Goehringer, about family planning, preaching the gospel, and offering an invitation to all to accept God’s gift of salvation.  Those who had the privilege to be there in her last moments were told to stay faithful, and oh, by the way, “I am going to beat you there [heaven]!”

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Harley Weber and Alma Harriet Rebecca Weber, her husband, Fred Joseph Green IX, son, Fred Joseph “Joe” Green X, daughter, Julia Alice Green, and daughter-in-law, Regina Gayle (Bennett) Green.  Jan is survived by her children Margaret Kennemer and husband Richard of Dallas, Texas, Dorothy Hardee and husband Michael of Kirksville, Missouri, Joy Butler and husband Jeff of Yale, Oklahoma, Paul Green and wife Karen of Newaygo, Michigan, Mary Green of Moberly, Missouri, Priscilla Mehaffy and husband Corey of Hannibal, Missouri, and Timothy Green and wife Susan Porter-Green of Castle Rock, Colorado, as well as a dear daughter-in-law Sandra Cobb Green, and adopted son, Salonique Adolphe, his wife, Holgine and their children. Jan is also survived by grandchildren Cyndi (Kennemer) Manek, Melissa (Kennemer) Hughes, Samantha (Kennemer) Johnson, Tony Green, Charis (Green) MacMurdo, Jaala (Green) Briscoe, Nathan Hardee, Mat Hardee, Andrew Hardee, Casey Butler, Caleb Butler, Kyle Butler, Katelyn Butler, Kylee (Green) Potter, Michael Green, Heather Carlson, Krista Green, and Jordan Mehaffy.  Jan is also survived by 39 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
