Jayson Earl Hess

Jayson Hess, 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, May 8, 2025, after his fight battling aggressive brain cancer.

Jayson was born to Jerry and Joyce (Halterman) Hess on December 18, 1967, was raised in Higbee and a lifelong resident of Moberly. He graduated from Moberly Senior High School class of 1986. Jayson was hired onto Norfolk Southern in 1989 and was able to complete 35 years of service. Jayson married Sheila Reynolds on October 16, 2002. Jayson never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed playing guitar, firing up the BBQ grill, fixing anything and everything, hot rodding in his Mustang, and spending time with his family.

Surviving family members are his wife, Sheila; his children, Allyson Hess (Brandon Coats), of Columbia, Kaitlee (Kalob) Dale, of Moberly, Kolten (Kaitlin) Hess, of Washington, Kassidee Hess, of Texas, Alaynee Hess (Jack Schooley), of Moberly, bonus daughter, Julie Howard, of Missouri; bonus grandchildren, Phoenyx and Talon; grandchildren, Maverick, Karson, Waylon, Kreed and Kollins; in-laws, Don & Judy Gebhardt and Ernie & Trish Reynolds; father, Jerry Hess; siblings, Kim (Debbie) Hess, of Higbee, John (Cindy) Hess, of Higbee, Leeanne (Robert) Cooper, of Fulton, and Toma (Kent) Crane, of Hallsville.

Jayson is preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Hess and nephew, Christopher Hess.

A service celebrating Jayson’s life is scheduled for Monday, May 12, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
