Jeanie Vee Boswell

Jeanie Vee Boswell of Madison, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on February 8, 2024. Her husband of nearly 63 years was at her side.

Jeanie was born in Cuero, Texas, the oldest of nine children born to Ira Eugene (Gene) Devenport and Dorothy Vee Embree Devenport Simpson, on February 15, 1943, while Gene was in the military. She grew up in Moberly and graduated from Moberly High School. She eventually attended cosmetology school and was a hairdresser in Moberly and in Montrose, Colorado for 27 years. All the while, she was a mother, a farmer’s wife, a business owner and an over the road companion during Dale’s truck driving career. Dale and Jeanie lived and worked around the Moberly and Madison areas until they took a 20-year adventure to live in the mountains of Colorado, before returning to Madison about 12 years ago.

Jeanie married Robert Dale Boswell of Moberly right out of high school in 1961, which formed a strong union that stood the test of nearly 63 years, holding true to their vow of “until death do us part.” The marriage blessed them with four children. Suzanne and husband Mike Schmidt of Moberly; Robyn Boswell of Lewiston, Maine; Rita Boswell of Moberly; and Robert Dale Boswell Jr., now deceased.

Jeanie is survived by her remaining siblings, Janie and John Lackey of Pocatello, Idaho; Jan and Leo VanStaveren of Granite Bay, California; Jerold and Sue Devenport of Moberly; Darold and Debbie Devenport of Carthage, Missouri; and Julie and Keith Jackson of Moberly; and sister-in-law Sandy Devenport. Also surviving are grandchildren Rachael (Schmidt) and Chris Fletcher of Moberly; Jessi (Schmidt) and Hayden Smith of Kansas City, MO; Jackson Boswell of Lewiston, Maine. Two brothers-in-law, Larry and Corine Boswell, and Gary and Rose Ann Boswell as well as two great-grandsons, Brooks and Baylor Fletcher also from Moberly, as well as many, many nieces and nephews scattered across the USA and abroad also survive.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law Robert and Helen Boswell, son Robert Dale Jr., grandsons Michael (Mikey) Schmidt Jr. and Aaron Arnhart, siblings Harold Devenport, Jackie Devenport Orton, and Merold Devenport.

At Jeanie’s request, there are no services planned.
