Jerold Cee Devenport

Mar 12, 1950 — Sep 1, 2026

Jerold Cee Devenport passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Moberly Regional Hospital. He was born to Ira and Dorothy (Embree) Devenport on March 12, 1950. He married Sue Beeler on June 18th, 1976 to which they enjoyed fifty years of marriage. They had two sons, Colby and Brandon.

Jerold was a lifelong resident of Moberly. He graduated from Moberly High School and attended Moberly Area Junior College. He worked at Everlast for over thirty years as the Maintenance Supervisor and as an electrician. Jerold never knew what a stranger was. He loved to talk to people. His wife and sons are convinced he knew everyone and their families. He often helped build or repair anything for those who needed it. He enjoyed maintaining his yard, home, and vehicles. He was a lifelong learner of national history, geography, and sports facts and loved to teach his family about anything he could. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of all things sports.

He was always a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Through wins and losses he stuck with them. He never missed watching a game if he could help it. He was also a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He especially loved the family game nights when Colby, Brandon, Brody, Grace, and Sue would wear their jerseys and emphatically spectate. The cheers and hollers from the living room as the games played out were a highlight to the week. There will be a big empty chair without him, but his family has a lot of memories to help fill it. He was loved.

Jerold is survived by his wife Sue; his children, Colby and his wife Grace Devenport, and Brandon Devenport, all of Moberly, Missouri; his grandson Brody Devenport of Columbia, Missouri; his sisters Janie Lackey of Pocatello, Idaho, Jan van Staveren of Granite Bay, California, and Julie Jackson of Moberly, Missouri; his brother Darold Devenport of Carthage, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jerold is preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Dorothy Devenport; two sisters, Jackie Orton and Jeanie Boswell; and two brothers, Harold and Merold Devenport.
