Jerry Rogers White, 77, of Shelbina, passed away at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO on July 25, 2017. Jerry was born June 14, 1940 in Clark, Missouri to Charles William White and Lorene Barron White. The family moved to Jacksonville when he was young and he spent the remainder of his youth there until he joined the Army in 1958. Jerry married Shirley Chism on August 1, 1975 and they shared 42 happy years together. Jerry worked for about thirty years for Maupin Gas Company in Moberly, beginning in 1969, as well as for other gas companies around the Shelbina and Shelbyville area. He was fondly known as “the gas man” by his many customers. He thoroughly enjoyed his work delivering propane and the many friends he made. Jerry was a hard worker and the family said he actually loved cutting grass! He also enjoyed camping and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jerry loved all animals and always had one or two-family pets. He was a member of the Hunnewell Mission Baptist Church. Those preceding him in death are his parents; a brother, Billy White; and granddaughter Loucinda White. He is survived by his wife Shirley; sons Robert (Angela Brown) White of Shelbina, Richard (Polly) White of Shelbyville, Ronnie (Jackie) White of Shelbina; grandchildren Brandy (William) Roberts, Michael (April) White, J.R. (Paula) White, Brad (Jenette) White, Erica Dixon, Joey White, Timmy White, Anna White and Andrew White; several great grandchildren; extended family and many friends. Funeral services for Jerry will be Monday, July 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly followed by interment in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville with full military honors. Visitation will be Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
