Joetta SkaggsJody (Priebe) Skaggs, 64, of Huntsville, Missouri quietly passed away on May 14, 2021 with her loved ones by her side. Jody was born on July 26, 1956 in Newport, Rhode Island to Thomas and Dedie (Hauser) Priebe. She grew up in rural Arbela, Missouri and graduated from Scotland County R1 High School in 1974. After graduation she started her family and made her home in Northeast Missouri. She later moved to Randolph County where she met and married her loving husband of 23 years, Ed Skaggs. Jody loved her husband, children and grandchildren fiercely. She took great joy in spoiling her grandchildren and granddogs. She was the epitome of selflessness, resilience, and strength. She walked through life with grace and courage. Her spirit was unwavering. Her laugh and smile will always be remembered. Though she held many jobs, rescuing animals was her most rewarding accomplishment. It was her life goal to instill kindness and compassion for all living things. Through her example, Jody taught us all the value of helping others in need and unconditional love. Jody was a talented and crafty artist who could see the beauty in the most unusual things. She was an enthusiastic card player (who never cheated). She was known for her beautiful flowers and for the hundreds of hummingbirds that came to drink out of her feeders every summer. She is survived by her husband Ed Skaggs of Huntsville, MO. Her children, Brandon (Lisa) Arnold of Moberly, Mo. Emily (Randy) Lattin of Brunswick, MO. Natalie (Dustin) Cook of Memphis, MO. Stepson Troy (Dawn) Howard of Columbia, MO. Grandchildren, Tyler, Dean, Summer, Alex, Abby, Dez, Gage, Raelynn, Chase, Hunter, Reese, Kelsey, Justyn and Luke. Seven great-grandchildren. Siblings, Tommy Priebe (Cynthia) of Huntsville, MO, Shelly (Priebe) Boyer of Memphis, MO, and Danny Priebe of Arbela, MO. Nieces and nephews, as well as many friends she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Dedie Priebe and her step daughter, Jackie Daigle. The best way to honor Jody’s memory is simple… Be Kind to others. Be Kind toAnimals. Be Kind to Mother Earth. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart.” - Proverbs 3:5 A family led memorial service celebrating Jody Skaggs' life will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 2pm-4pm at the Lodge in Rothwell Park, Moberly, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, Jody would prefer you to make a memorial contribution in her honor to the Arbela United Methodist Church, 27256 Bair LN, Arbela, MO 63432 or to The Spay Neuter Project, 206 Austin Ave 1st floor, Columbia, MO 65203. Condolences may be shared online at www.pathwaymemorial.com. Pathway Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

She always had a smile. Even when you knew she was suffering it never showed. What an amazing person she was. I loved her a lot. She inspired so many people.

I am deeply saddened by this news. I had the pleasure of meeting Jody and Ed for the first time, back in 2011, during the Proposition B Protest in Jefferson City. With that initial meeting, I immediately felt that I had known her all my life. She was a personable young lady. Her compassion for our beloved animals was that to be admired. I was extremely proud to be able to call her my friend. She will be sorely missed. May God of love and mercy, embrace those, whose hearts overflow with grief, unanswered questions and such a sense of loss. May he grant them space to express their tears and hold them close through this dark time.

Only knew Jody briefly as she worked with animal rescue here in Moberly and the surrounding area. Always a sweet person and she will be greatly missed. Many sympathies to the family.

I never met Jody face to face but I did talk some on messenger many times about animals. I told her what I wanted done with my dogs when I pass. I knew she would make it happen. Not once did you say anything was wrong with her. I told her my problems and she listened and cared even though I was a stranger. Sending a prayer for her loving family! God needed this furbaby angel. RIP Dear Jody you will be missed by so ,many people!
