John Wesley Lane, 77, of Higbee, Missouri, passed away on June 16, 2026. He was born on March 4, 1949, in Moline Illinois, to Betty Jean Kinion and John Lane.

John was married to Orpha Grimsley and together they built a life filled with family, memories and traditions that will continue to live on through those that knew and loved him.

John retired after 37 years from Orscheln Products working in the maintenance department.

As a young man, he served in the 101st Airborne Division from March 1969 until October 1970 and was stationed along the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) during the Vietnam War era.

A true outdoors man, John loved hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and horses. He could be found tinkering in his shop where he loved to build toys for his grandkids. He had a gift for fixing anything and everything and looked forward each year to decorating his yard for Halloween and Christmas for everyone to enjoy.

He is survived by his wife, Orpha Grimsley- Lane; son, Victor “Bub” Lane (Amber) of Bolivar, MO; daughters, Sherri Lane (Bryan) of Columbia, MO, Brenda Lane of Springfield, MO, Michelle Andrews of Higbee, MO, Lisa Price (Billy) of Higbee, MO, and Rachael Harmon. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Trevonne Hicks, Lindsay Whadlington (Garrett), Ryan Andrews (Chelsea), Chase and Tucker Price, Jazmyn Norris, Joseph Groom, Mary, Kimberly, Serena and Michael. Siblings, Jim Kitchen (Stacy) of Lingo, MO, Claude Kitchen (Deborah) of Independence, MO, and Maureen Biegel (Gary) of Bevier, MO, along with several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Palliser and Rosy Brown; and son- in- law, Hoss Andrews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Higbee city cemetery, Higbee, Missouri.
