Katherine Hense, 91, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Macon Health Care Center. Katherine was born July 31, 1928, to Melvin and Mamie (McBride) Beard in Indianola, Mississippi. She worked as a telephone operator for South Central Bell. . Katherine aka “Mamaw” loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was famous for her chocolate pie, monkey bread, cheese toast and tang. She was an avid smoker and enjoyed a Miller pony every now and then. Her favorite meal was liver and onions from Richards Restaurant. In her later years she became quite sassy and used the word “dayum” occasionally. There will never be another like her and she will be missed terribly, but the family is comforted knowing she has been reunited with Papaw and all her family members who have gone before her. Those that preceded her in death were her husband, John Hense; father, Melvin Beard and mother, Mamie Sudduth. Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Miller and husband Dirk of Cairo, Missouri; grandchildren: Blaire Harvey and husband Mark of Huntsville, Missouri, Amy McAlister and husband Brad of Coon Rapids, Iowa, Chip Dean of Moberly, Missouri, Anne Mallory Dean of Moberly, Missouri; great-grandchildren: Madelynn and Cooper Harvey, Aaron, Preston, Lydia and Tucker McAlister, and Ellie Dean. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Home of Moberly. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri, under the direction of Million Taylor Funeral Homes.
