Kathleen Nichols of Moberly, Missouri passed away peacefully in her home on October 25, 2022, at the age of 99.
She was born on April 8, 1923, to Frank Rains and Frances (Bannie) McCrary Rains in Fayette, Missouri.
In 1941 she married Harold LeRoy Jones in Moberly. Harold died serving in WWII on April 20, 1944, when his plane was shot down in France. Kathleen and Harold had one child, her surviving daughter, Sharon L. King.
Kathleen married James Perry Nichols January 2, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri. James was the son of Robert Nichols and Ethel Hess, he passed away May 1, 1988.
Kathleen was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her children, Sharon L. King of Fulton, Missouri, James A. Nichols and wife, Della of San Antonio, Texas, Kathy Egbert and husband, Robert of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Adkison and Michael of Plantation, Florida, Sally Wilson and Jeff of Fulton, Missouri, Rebecca Graff and Tom of Kearney, Missouri, Shawn Graff and Nikki of Lihue, Hawaii, Katie Bazzani and Anthony of San Antonio, Texas, Amy Nichols and Lauren of Boston, Massachusetts, James Nichols and Lilla of Jackson Heights, New York, Laura Bivins and Joshua of Houston, Texas, Emily Eads and Christopher of Heber City, Utah; twenty two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
James and Kathleen enjoyed traveling and road trips with family. They traveled extensively as members of the Highway Hoppers Camping group making lifelong friends. They enjoyed winters in Texas for a number of years visiting family and friends along the way.
Kathleen was devoted to God and looked forward to attending Sunday School and Church at First Baptist of Moberly, in person and via phone and radio until her final day. She was ready to be with her Lord.
Everyone blessed to know Kathleen will always remember her big spirit, infectious smile and sharp wit. She loved her family completely and always had a birthday card in the mail to each and every one. She will be missed every day, but we can rest easy knowing she is with her God and with so many loved ones who have preceded her in death.
The family’s deepest gratitude is extended to each of you for your loving kindness during this time of bereavement. Your words of comfort are a source of strength. Memorial Gifts may be given in Kathleen’s memory to First Baptist Church, 514 W. Rollins St., Moberly, MO 65270.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, family time will be from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., open visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, 411 Union Ave., Moberly. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with a second visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at Memorial Park. Following the interment, the First Baptist Church will host a repast meal for family and friends to gather and celebrate the life of Kathleen.
