Margaret JoAnne Wheeler

Margaret JoAnne Wheeler, 87, of Cairo, MO, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 1, 2026 at Monroe Manor in Paris, MO, just days away from her 88th birthday. Joanne was born on January 15, 1938 in Moberly, MO, to Burl and Kathryn (Riggs) Stuck.

She graduated from Moberly High School in 1955. During this period in her life, she played the bugle for the school, played piano and sang with her dad who was known for playing his banjo at various locations. 

She was first married in 1956 to Robert "Bob" Liesman, and moved to Madison, MO, and raised four children. She sold AVON for several years before becoming a bookkeeper in 1971 for Donovan's garage in Holiday, MO, for over 25 years, a job which she loved.

Years later in 1977 she moved to Cairo, MO, and eventually met and married Robert L. Wheeler in 1981.

She enjoyed cross stitching, swimming and going to ball games. Family and Friends remember her driving a car loaded with kids to ball practices, games and swimming pools and everyone loved her homemade tenderloins.

She is survived by her siblings; Jeanette Brammer of Tulsa, OK, Jeane (Carl) Ferguson of Proctor, OK, and Wayne Stuck of Springfield, MO. Her children; Robert Liesman of Cairo, MO, Paul Liesman (Liying) of Fireston, CO, Jeff Liesman, Stacey (Alan) McCune, Bill (Raenee) Butler all of Moberly, MO, and Rebecca (Tom) Wales of Huntsville, MO, nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. 

Funeral Service for Margaret will be held Monday, January 12, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Millard Family Funeral Chapel, Moberly, MO. Visitation will be held prior to service from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral services at Sugar Creek Cemetery, Moberly, MO.
