Marilyn Brumer

Marilyn Joyce Bernhardt Brumer died peacefully at the home of her daughter, Janet Gully, in Clifton Hill, MO, on April 27, 2024, at the age of 86.  She was surprised and delighted by the visit from all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that came to see her over the Easter Holiday.  She was touched by all the love they showed her.

Marilyn was born on February 10, 1938, to Raymond E. Bernhardt and Edna Batten Bernhardt.   Marilyn met Eugene Brumer at a soda shop where he worked in the 1950s.  In 1961, they gave birth to Janet Huff Gully who was given up for adoption.   They later got married on July 6, 1964.   They gave birth to Cheri Amber Brumer Crain in 1971 and in 1978 Robert Ray Brumer was born.  They divorced in 1987.

Marilyn was a bookkeeper throughout her working years.  She moved around a bit and lived in several different states but enjoyed living in Houston, Texas, the most.  In her later years, she enjoyed several trips to Indiana to spend time and some holidays with her son and his family.  She also enjoyed playing several computer games including Solitaire and Bingo.  She also enjoyed playing cards whenever she could talk someone into playing with her.

Marilyn will be loved and missed by surviving family: daughter, Janet Gully (Joe), daughter, Cheri Crain; son Robert Brumer (Katey); grandchildren, Latisha Wagner Lange (Gabe), Lance Wagner, Kali Crain, Kayla Crain, Alexis Brumer, Peyton Brumer and Hunter Brumer; brother Donald Bernhardt and sister Sandra Bernhardt Lightner (Martin); also, several nieces, nephews, cousins and great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marita Kiernan and her brother Caryle Wayne Bernhardt.

At Marilyn’s request, no services will be held except for a small private family gathering.
