Martha (Crosswhite) Hall

January 4, 1935 — October 9, 2015

Martha J. Crosswhite Hall, 80, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Moberly on October 9. Born in Albia, Iowa, Martha was the youngest child of Robert and Velma John Burton. The family later moved to Moberly where Martha completed her education. On November 24th, 1951, she married Charley Crosswhite who preceded her death in 1999. Martha enjoyed her role as a homemaker and mother to their three children. Martha was a devoted member of Central Christian Church for over 60 years. She served as the church secretary, was a member of the church board, was an active participant in the Mary Rae group, sang in the choir and filled a variety of other church roles over the years. In addition to being employed by the church, Martha worked at Patterson’s Department Store and was employed in the loan department at City Bank for over 20 years until her retirement in 1999, but continued to work part time for several years after. Martha was also a long time member of the ABWA. In 2002, Martha married Richard D. Hall of Macon and they made their home in Moberly. Martha enjoyed traveling, sports, especially MIZZOU basketball, and more than anything, spending time with her family. Martha’s enthusiasm for life and family left a legacy of love and joy that will continue to be felt by all who knew her. Martha is survived by her husband, Richard and her children, David (Carla) of Rogers, Arkansas, Patty (Mike) McGannon of Kansas City, Mo, and Janet (Phil) Gravitt of Naples, Florida. Her step children, Debbie (Mike) Dunseith of Joplin, Mo, Diana (Randy) Taylor of Moberly, David (Kathy) Hall of Maryville, IL. Grandchildren include: Adam (Sarah) Crosswhite, Ryan (Liz) Crosswhite, Alysson (Lance) Gaines, Jeremy (Whitney) McGannon, Mallory (Mark) Van Winter, Maddy McGannon, Micale Gravitt, Madison Gravitt and Great Grandchildren Emma, Tice and Bella. Grandchildren by marriage: Mindy (Matt) Cupp, Meghan (Rob) Sprague, Jessica (Scott) Reynolds, Josh (Amanda) Taylor, Tristan, Rhiannon and Dylan Hall. Greatgrandchildren: Gabe, Katie, Amelia, Rylee, Ryan, Raelyn, Maddison and Mason. Martha was preceded in death by her first husband Charley, her parents and siblings John Burton and Betty Hill. Visitation will be held October 13th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Million Taylor Funeral Home in Moberly. Services will be October 14th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park in Moberly. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Central Christian Church Youth Ministry.
