Mary Jean Anderson

Jean Anderson, age 77, of Osage Beach, MO, passed away surrounded by family members on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Lake Regional Hospital. Jean was born on April 8, 1948, in Moberly, MO, to Elmer and Bertha (Elsbery) Wehmeyer.

She graduated from Moberly High School in 1966 and from Moberly Area Community College and Northeast Missouri State University in 1973 with a degree in Education. In 1973, Jean accepted her first position as a teacher in the public school system. She worked as an educator for the next 40 years.

Jean married the love of her life, Tom, on May 28, 1972, in Moberly after only a few months of dating. She enjoyed many things in life such as playing golf and eating dinner with her friend group at the Lake. The times that brought the biggest smile to her face were watching her grandchildren play sports whether in person or on TV. She loved bragging about the accomplishments of those three kids to whoever would listen.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Bertha Wehmeyer; and her sister, Barbara Bethel Scrogin.

Jean is survived by her husband, Tom, of Osage Beach; daughter, Whitney (Jeff) McCormick, of Moberly; son, Roby (Kerri) Anderson, of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, Ava and Sophia Anderson, of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Nathaneal McCormick, of Moberly, MO; brother, Ed Wehmeyer, of Troy, MO; along with many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service celebrating Jean’s life has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery in Moberly, MO.
