Marylin Yvonne Barron

Apr 6, 1936 — Aug 16, 2026

Marylin Yvonne (Pitney) Barron, age 90, of Moberly, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 16, 2026. She was born in Howard County, Missouri on April 6, 1936, to Ivan F. and Julia Louise (Baima) Pitney.

Marylin was Salutatorian of the Higbee High School Class of 1954 and Homecoming Queen. She played basketball throughout her high school career including coaching Junior High School girls’ teams. She was temporarily sidelined in the fall of 1952 when she was severely injured in an automobile accident.

Marylin married Donald R. Barron on September 4, 1954 and they were the parents of four sons – Donald Thomas, Danny Lee, Mark Alan and Paul Jay. Throughout her life she worked at Dorsey’s Café, Consumer Stamps Redemption Store, Sugar Creek School District, Mid-State Vending, Tri-Association Mission Office and American Greeting Cards. The job she enjoyed most, though, was the family hay business where she was able to work with her sons.

A long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Marylin served as Treasurer, Sunday School and VBS Leader, and Bible Drill Instructor. She loved sharing Jesus with children and watching them grow in their faith. Marylin was a faithful supporter of the Missouri Baptist Children's Home. She was also a member of the Margaret Miller Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Marylin traveled extensively with her sisters and friend, Mildred Haynes – from Nova Scotia to Hawaii, and Alaska to the Bahamas. More than anything she loved her family and was privileged to have them in her home for meals and visits.

Marylin is survived by two sons – Danny Barron of Moberly and Mark (Lynne) Barron of Renick; a daughter-in-law Corinna Barron of Moberly; a brother, Marvin (Ruth Ann) Pitney of Ironton; two sisters, Evelyn Kiser of Montrose, CO and Julene (Steve) Thornhill of Kirksville; grandsons Howard (Julie), Dennis, Matthew (Beth), Andrew (Vicky) Wise, Eric Wise, Nicholas (Angela), Jesse (Lacy), and Anthony (Kelsie) ; granddaughters Tanya (Bronson) Kribbs, Kerry Bueche (Jeff Doubrava), Kathy Smithee (Bradley Bates), Courtney (Jared) Ramsey, Nicole (Corey) Roark; thirty-one great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons – Donald Thomas and Paul Jay, grandson Zachary Barron and brother Ivan E. Pitney.
