Micheal Jay Keasler

Micheal “Jay Bird” Keasler passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Jay was born on January 17, 1958, in Plainview, Texas, to parents Bill and Margaret Keasler.

Jay proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police officer and detective. During his service, he earned the Expert qualification with the rifle, pistol, machine gun, and hand grenades, reflecting his exceptional proficiency and dedication. He took great pride in serving his country and the lifelong friendships and experiences his military service provided.

On September 29, 2012, Jay married the love of his life, Tammy Snider, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, during the Full Harvest Moon- a date that remained special to them throughout their years together.

Jay was a licensed pilot who truly lived to fly, finding both freedom and joy in the skies. He was also the proud owner and operator of Keasler Trucking, Inc., traveling millions of miles behind the wheel of his beloved semi-truck, “Betsy.” Rarely far from his side was his faithful canine companion, Elvis, who accompanied him on countless miles and adventures across the country.

Jay’s heart belonged to J-T Farm, the place he cherished most and where he found peace, purpose, and happiness. He found great joy in the simple, good things; Friday night cruises, antique cars and old tractors, tending to his frog pond like a cathedral, and forever perfecting his grilling skills, convinced that the next steak would be the best one yet!

Jay is survived by his best friend and wife, Tammy Keasler who was also his devoted caregiver; his mother, Ann Keasler Gibbs; his son Chance Keasler (Jodi); his daughters, Trinity Jae Moore (Tim), Tara Mae Lightner (Nathan), and Amanda Laughlin (Josh);and his son, Lee Snider (Kaity May); his cherished grandchildren, Charlee and Ada Keasler, Ambria, Gunner and Ryker Moore, Beck and Shae Lightner, and Jones and Monroe Laughlin, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

He also leaves behind his beloved fur children, Minnie Pearl, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Ellie Mae, and Good Sarah. Jay’s dogs and cats were never “just pets” but family who slept at his feet and rode shot gun in the truck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Margaret Keasler; brother, Gary Keasler; and daughter, Amber Keasler; as well as his travel companion, Elvis.

Jay loved hard, worked hard and did everything his way. He will be deeply missed at J-T Farm. Above all friends and family will miss Jay’s gentle nature and sweet smile. Just knowing Jay made the world a better place.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 10, 2026 beginning at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Pathway Millard Family Funeral Chapel, 411 Union Ave, Moberly, MO, 65270. Burial will follow with full military honors at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, MO.
