Nicki R. Johnston

March 26, 1964 — May 4, 2022

Nicki Rachelle Johnston, age 58, of Jacksonville Missouri, went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 4, 2022 at her home surrounded by family.

Nicki was born on March 26, 1964 in Moberly MO to Roy and Donna (Welge) Newbrough. She graduated from Madison C-3 in 1982. Nicki acquired her CMA licenses and worked at Meadow Ridge Senior Living and the Moberly Middle School in the kitchen.

Nicki proudly served both young and old in the community. She was a member of the Crosspoint Church of Moberly and enjoyed her time often serving meals during childrens church and prayer group on Wednesday nights in years past.

Nicki was an outstanding care giver. She married Phillip Kent Johnston on April 22, 2017 in Moberly, MO. Nicki was an active community member who was deeply involved in church, school, the elderly and motherhood for most of her life. She enjoyed gardening, signing up and completing 5K run/walk for various causes that support those in need. She loved baking breads and trying out new recipes. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Her family and friends will always remember her kind blue eyes, her wonderful laughs and smiles, and touch that could take away any pain or struggle. She was always available to any who needed help. She had abundant forgiveness in her heart and good sound judgement with her words.

She is preceded in death by her father, Roy Lee Newbrough, and her brother, Victor La Rose Newbrough.

Nicki is survived by her husband, Kent, of Jacksonville MO, her mother Donna Kay Newbrough of Madison MO, her children, son Jason Johnston (Angie Frieden) of Huntsville MO, and daughter Audrey (Dustin) Tietge of Cairo, MO, grandchildren Kialan Johnston, Huntsville MO, Trystan Tietge, Cairo MO, Dalton and Samantha Johnston, Huntsville MO, Arraya Saxbury, Moberly MO, and Constance Gibson, Hunstville, MO, sister Phyllis Martin, Armstrong MO, niece Olivia Herlein, Fayette, MO, nephew Dakota Martin, Columbia MO, brother-in-law, Jim Goodrich, Eagle Rock MO, friends Eddie and Arjeana Haynes, Moberly, MO, friends Roger and Janet Lucas, Moberly Mo, sister-in-law, Faye Adams, Holiday MO, cousin Deborah Riggen, Chillicothe, MO, friends James and Joyce Sayler, Macon, MO and sister-in-law Mina Garret and extended family and many close friends like family in the Crosspoint church.

A Funeral service celebrating Nicki’s life has been scheduled for Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 3:00 p.m., at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly with inurnment to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Madison, MO. Memorial visitation will be held Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. If desired, donations may be sent to the Vincent P. Gurucharri Foundation 2000 E. Broadway Suite 213 Columbia, MO 65201 in memory of Nicki.
