Norman Lee Thomas, 79, of Huntsville, passed away May 11, 2016. Norman was born October 5, 1936 in Huntsville, MO to Arnold Thomas and Sarah Burton Thomas. He was a lifelong resident of the Huntsville area. On June 2, 1957 he married Berva Daniels who preceded him in death. He later married Vicki Searson on October 17, 1992 in Moberly, and she also preceded him in death. Norman was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He devoted his life to farming and was a member of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association as well as the Randolph County Cattle Association. He also served on the Chariton Valley Telephone Board and was a Westran Booster Club member. Those preceding Norman in death, in addition to his wives, are a son, Danny Thomas; a daughter who died in infancy, Mary Ellen Thomas, and another daughter, Cindy Fredrick; three brothers, J.G., Junior and Donnie Thomas. He is survived by his children, Tammy Mattox (Craig) of Huntsville, MO, Suzanne Orscheln (David) of Leawood, KS, step-children Jeff Kellogg (Ann) of Madison, MO, Suzanne Rice of Moberly, MO and Kendra Taylor (Scott) of Moberly; eleven grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren; twenty-two great grand-children and eight step great grandchildren; siblings, Net Swetnam of Huntsville, MO and Betty Vanderbeck (Bob) of Perry, MO; extended family and many friends. A mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. A private burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be Monday, May 16, 2016 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to St. Pius X school playground fund, P. O. Box 310, Moberly, MO 65270.
