Peggy Ann (Caldwell) Clay, 78, of Clark, MO, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.
Peggy was born January 16, 1947, to Ruth and William Caldwell in Versailles, MO.
Peggy’s hobbies included playing games such as Yahtzee & 10,000, spending time with family and friends, along with bird watching (especially her favorite, the hummingbird).
In October of 1969, Peggy married the love of her life, Carleton Clay, and together they raised six kids. Peggy was a stay-at-home mom, which she loved to do. She did run a café in Mike, MO, for a year but decided being home was more for her.
Peggy sadly lost her husband Carleton in December of 2004, but later met Steve who she spent the last 20 years of her long-filled life with, smiling, laughing and making memories. Peggy and Steve started out living in Moberly and then moved to Clark.
Peggy will always be remembered as a one-of-a kind woman who could always brighten anyone’s day and whose loving smile was contagious. She was never hated by anyone and was always caring , kind, and full of laughter and life.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Carleton; son, Carleton, Jr. (Turk); granddaughter, Audry and grandson, Randy.
She is survived by husband, Steve Jones; sons, Johnnie, Jimmy, and Robert (Bob), all of Moberly, MO; daughters, Kimberly, of Clark, MO, and Carla, of Chillicothe, MO; 23 grandkids; many great grandkids; her sisters and her brothers.
A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
