Peter Grafelman

d. February 4, 2019

Peter Claus Grafelman, 87, of Jacksonville, passed away at Boone Hospital February 4, 2019. Peter was born to Peter H. Grafelman and Tena Look Grafelman in Peoria, Illinois on October 20, 1931. He married Janice Doubet Grafelman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Il on July 27, 1963 and they were married for over fifty years before her passing in March of 2018. Peter and Janice moved from Mapleton, Il to Randolph County in 1978 where they owned and operated a dairy farm. After farming for many years, they both went to work at Everlast where they retired together. Peter enjoyed raising rabbits and watching old Westerns on TV. He also liked to watch boxing matches and he cherished time spent with his grandchildren. Those who knew Peter said he always had a smile on his face and he never knew a stranger. He would strike up a conversation with anyone, and if he could find someone who spoke German it was even better. Those who preceded him in death are his parents; wife, Janice; grandson, Ryan Scott Grafelman and two brothers. He is survived by his children, Wayne (Lourie) Grafelman of Jacksonville, Judy Cummings and Jane (Darryl) Rasmussen all of Moberly; grandchildren, Adam and Zackery Rasmussen of Moberly, Heather (Rodney) Harrison of Huntsville, Alex (Brooke Herrin) Grafelman of Moberly, and Elizabeth Cummings of Moberly; great grandchildren, Adalyn, Trevin, Brynlee, and Zaylee Harrison all of Huntsville and Dakota Grafelman of Moberly; extended family and friends. Services for Peter will be held Friday, February 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
