Portia Ann Johnson

Portia Ann (Canote) Johnson, 77, of Republic, Missouri, formerly of Huntsville, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 20, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Aurora, Missouri.

Portia was born on August 27, 1945, in Sedalia, Missouri, to Porter and Lotta (Dunivent) Canote. She graduated from Westran High School in 1963.

She married Larry Johnson on November 16, 1990, at Fellowship Christian Church in Middle Grove, Missouri.

She was a member of the Republic Freewill Baptist Church. Portia enjoyed crafting and especially scrapbooking in her free time.

Her family and friends will remember her as someone who was always willing to help in any way she could.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Johnson and her parents, Porter and Lotta Canote.

Portia is survived by her children, Mark (Elaine) Baker, Rusty (Brenda) Baker and Tamara (Tim) Anderson; grandchildren, Marcus Baker, Kirstin Drebes, Coulten Baker, Timothy Anderson and Tieraney Richardson; great-grandchildren, Kitryn Drebes, Emberlynn Drebes, Trinity Anderson, Natalie Anderson, Portia Richardson and Dale Richardson; sister, Wanda Shelby; niece, Kim (Paul) Reynolds; nephew, Kelly (Leann) Shelby; extended family and many close friends.

A graveside service celebrating Portia’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Moberly, Missouri.
