Moberly

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Raymond Maurice Cason “Reese” age 47 of Moberly, Missouri. He gently departed this life at home, Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Maurice “Reese” was born on June 9, 1978, in Moberly, MO. He was the cherished son of Cheryl Cason and Raymond Yancey. From an early age he exhibited warmth and kindness that would define his life. Maurice graduated from Moberly High School in 1997. He moved to Kansas City where he accepted a position as a convenience store clerk, where he worked for more than 17 years. His legacy is one of unwavering kindness, infectious joy, and steadfast loyalty. He taught us the fun in a friendly game and the power of a truly compassionate heart. Reese was a man of simple yet profound joy. He was a familiar and enthusiastic face at the local bingo halls where his infectious laugh and good-natured banter often filled the room whether he was calling out BINGO or just enjoying the time with friends. Many days were spent around the table with a deck of cards in hand for a lively game of Tonk with his closest family and friends. Maurice’s love of music was undeniable. He possessed an uncanny ability to sing any song, often surprising everyone by bursting into tune, even moments after waking from a power nap! Music was a constant companion and a source of joy he readily shared that matched his vibrant spirit.

Above all, Maurice cherished time spent with his family and friends. His kind spirit shone brightly in every interaction. He believed that life’s greatest treasures were the people we share it with. Maurice will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The memories he left behind will forever remain in our hearts. May he find peace and may we find comfort in knowing his legacy of kindness and joy will continue to inspire us every day.

Reese is survived by his siblings, Alex Cason of Moberly, MO, Angie President of Jefferson City, MO, Aliza Yancey of Moberly, MO, LaQuanna McNeil of Fulton, MO, Darrius Yancey of Moberly, MO, and Jacoby Yancey of Moberly, MO.
