Rickey Leonard Myres

Rickey Leonard Myres, 70, of Moberly, MO, passed away on November 24, 2023, in Salisbury, MO with family by his side.

Rick was born on November 19, 1953, in Kennett, MO, to Elton and Catherine (Johnson) Myres and completed their family of four.

He worked in auto body repairs at Moberly Motors for Ford Motors from 1974 to 1993, where he eventually became the manager of the body shop.

Rick cared deeply about sharing scriptures from the King James Version of the Holy Bible and witnessing to others about salvation through Jesus Christ. Socializing and making new friends were also very dear to him. He liked to make others smile and often had a joke to share.

Rick is survived by his brother, Terry (Carol) Myres of Moberly, MO, and his nieces: Rebecca (Jeff) McCracken of Moberly, MO, Cassandra (J.R.) Freels of Madison, MO, and Roni Ann (David) Wilkerson of Drake, MO. He also leaves behind his great nieces/nephews: Samantha Gorham, Austin Freels, Robert Gorham, Danielle Freels, David "Davy" Wilkerson, and great-great-nephew, Spencer Freels. Rick is also survived by his uncle, Elgin David (Athena) Johnson of Belvidere, TN as well as several friends and extended family.

Rick attended Kennett High School, graduating with the Class of 1972. He kept in contact with several classmates and enjoyed attending reunions. He learned about Jesus first as a member of Southside Baptist Church in Kennett, MO, where he was saved and baptized. In Moberly, he was humbled to be set apart as a Deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church on January 19, 1986. He continued his role as a deacon as a member of North Park Baptist Church in Moberly. Rick also enjoyed fellowship at First Baptist Church of Huntsville.

In his free time, Rick pursued his passion for culinary arts by attending culinary school to become a chef. He especially enjoyed baking and desserts. He was also very social and enjoyed ham radios, CB radios, and engaging with others on multiple social media platforms. Rick maintained several pen pals throughout his life.
