Robert Anton Sauer

Robert Anton Sauer, 96, formerly of Moberly died January 29, 2011 at the Perry County Nursing home in Perryville, MO. Bob was born October 8, 1914, in rural Perry County, the son of Theodore Sauer and Mary (Leible) Sauer Schumer. Bob was a long term resident of the Randolph County Area until his move to Perryville in early October 2007. Bob married Velma Courton on January 14, 1940, in Moberly. Bob was an integral part of the Reed’s Corner Restaurant in Moberly. He and his wife, Velma, ran the restaurant for over 45 years. He was active in the St. Pius X Catholic Church and a 50+ year member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob was an active member of the VFW and American Legion Post in Moberly and was an active part of the Moberly area community. His parents, his wife, brother, sister, 2 step-brothers and 4 step-sisters preceded Bob in death. Surviving Bob is their daughter Kathleen Ann (Ed) Miller of Sioux Falls, SD, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, 2 half-brothers, 4 half-sisters and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held Friday February 4, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Moberly. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon following the burial at the Church.
