Rod Edward Tramontin passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 24, 2025, at home with his wife Linda and dog Tiger by his side. Rod was born on August 2, 1954 to James Francis Tramontin and Merion Jane Kust and was raised in Milwaukee.
Rod's first job at age sixteen was a golf caddy. His second job was at Houlahas, where they transferred him to Missouri after going to culinary school. From there he owned his own restaurant with his first wife Debbie, in Washington, Missouri. After closing three years later, he began work at the Moberly Correctional Center.
Rod worked his way up to being a cook three and retired after twenty eight years of service. After retirement, Rod felt he needed to go back to work, and took a part time job as a park ranger for the city of Moberly. He worked as park supervisor as well, and was the voice of the ball games. Rod spent approximately nine years at Metro World Child in Brooklyn, New York.
He wore many hats: court appointed special advocate, ham radio operator, civil air patrol, camp counselor and supervisor. He was an intern parent at Metro World Child and taught the children in church. He volunteered at Yogi Bear church also through Metro World Child. Rod enjoyed helping anyone in need and volunteering in the community. He thoroughly enjoyed ministry life.
Rod will be remembered as a great husband, father to many, and a man of ministry.
Survivors include; his wife Linda, dog; Tiger, children; Sarah (Nathan) and Jimmy (Laura), step-children; Michelle, DaLinda, Mark, Mike, Matt, Misty and Kristy, sisters; Cathy and Debbie, brother; Donnie and half sister; Cheryl. He is also survived by thirty nine grandkids and great grandkids combined, with one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.
Rod was an avid gun collector and a bad shot, but in the end, he didn't miss when it came to death, for he is now in Heaven to serve the Lord.
A private tree and bench will be placed in Rothwell park at a later date in Rod's honor.
