Samuel Frederick Schwartze

Samuel Frederick Schwartze, 29, of Moberly lost a valiant and courageous battle with colon cancer on November 1, 2023, at 3:27 p.m.

Sam was born on June 28, 1994, in Springfield, MO, to Carl and Vikki Schwartze. Sam joined an older sister, Megan, and older brother, Nathaniel.

Sam was baptized and received First Communion and Confirmation at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Springfield, MO. Sam attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from Springfield Catholic High School in 2012, where he was active in choir, several play productions, and football. After high school, Sam attended Missouri State University where he played football for the Bears for 2 ½ years. He graduated from MSU with a bachelor’s in education in December 2016. Sam was an 8th grade science teacher and middle school football coach in Macon for five years. He had begun the current school year as the 7th grade math teacher until he was no longer able to teach. He was incredibly proud to be a Tiger.

Sam married the love of his life, Emmy RayAnn Twomey, on June 2, 2018. Together they adopted two dogs, Patches and Coco. They celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary this summer.

To the world, Sam was a gentle giant and a giant among men. You could not find a kinder soul. He made this world a kinder place and will do the same in his Eternal Home.

Sam is preceded in death by his older brother, Nathaniel "Natey" Schwartze, his paternal grandfather, Francis Schwartze, maternal grandfathers, Michael Wilson and Frederick Clapham, and uncles, Father David Schwartze and Jim Schwartze.

Sam is survived by his wife, Emmy, and his very spoiled dogs, Patches and Coco; parents Carl and Vikki Schwartze of Sturgeon, MO; sister Megan Chandler, brother-in-law Marcus Chandler, and two very adored nieces Harper Kay and Savannah Pearl, of Wildwood, MO; grandmothers Teresa Schwartze of Olathe, KS, and Joyce Clapham of Moberly, MO; and the Twomey family: parents Rodney and Patty Twomey, sister Alyssa, Sam's much loved niece Ava, and brother McKinley, all of Ironton, MO. He is also survived by his godparents, Dennis Weber and Sandra Spencer Johnson, along with many loved aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, colleagues, and students.
