Shawn Edward Closser

Shawn E. Closser, age 45, of Huntsville, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly, Missouri.  Shawn was born November 20, 1976, in Moberly, Missouri to Max Closser and Deborah L. Lacy Closser.

Shawn graduated from Moberly High School and worked as a maintenance team at Swift. January 22, 1999, Shawn married the love of his life Rebecca Nickerson in Moberly, Missouri.

Shawn was a very hard-working man that always provided for his family, who he loved more than anything. Shawn enjoyed spending time with his wife, especially picking on her. He loved watching the boys in all their sports events, never missing a game or a fight. He was always right up front to support them. He talked constantly about how proud of a father he was, but when his grandbabies were born you could truly see in his eyes the pride and overpowering amounts of love, he carried for them. A true family man he was.

As a friend, Shawn was loyal and devoted. There was not a thing in the world he wouldn’t do for those he loved. Although reckless at times, Shawn would always lend a shoulder to cry on, a joke to laugh at, and a story to listen to. He would sit back and drink a cold one with you with you or be the first to kick in a door with you.

Shawn was truly larger than life itself, and our world is a little bit smaller now that he has moved to his forever home of peace.

Shawn is preceded in death by his father Max, stepfather Harold “H” Ames, grandfather, David Lacy, and his brother Mitchell Nickerson.

Shawn is survived by his wife Rebecca Closser of the home, his mother Deborah Ames of Huntsville, his grandmother Laverne Lacy of Moberly, his children Coleman Brown, Tanner Closser, and Dawson Closser, five grandchildren; Bre’Elle Carter, Emmaline Closser, Alaia Closser, Za’Kiah Closser, and Raegen Closser, two brothers; Scott Ames (Shelia) of Huntsville and Sheldon Mohr (Tiffany), five sisters; Michelle Lippincott (Andrew) of Branson, Lisa Meadows (Myron) of Billings, Regina Parker of Florida, Patty Ames of Columbia, and Angie Coonce (Timmy) of Moberly, several nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family and friends.

A visitation to celebrate Shawn’s life will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, MO with funeral services for Shawn beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, MO.

Shawn's personality was definitely larger than life. Back in the day he was not afraid of anything or anyone. They say dynamite comes in small packages and that was true of Shawn. A bunch of us all ran around together back then. He will be missed. I'm praying for peace for all his family.

My heart is broken, but also filled with the memories of taking you hunting, eating pizza with hot peppers and playing basketball with you in your backyard. Rest in Peace.
