Stephen Wayne Lind

Stephen “Steve” Wayne Lind, 65, of Hartsburg, Missouri peacefully passed away surrounded by family on June 20, 2022, at his home.

Steve was born on December 30, 1956 in Moberly, Missouri, to Edward and Deloris (Tigerstorm) Lind. He graduated from the McGavock High School in Nashville, Tennessee in 1975. On June 28, 1986 Steve married, Carla (Prange) Lind.

Steve was dedicated to his job at Broad Building Supply in Columbia, Missouri and enjoyed his coworkers.

He was a member of the Olivet Christian Church in Columbia, Missouri and enjoyed helping with the annual barbeque.

Steve’s family would describe him as a very easy-going, caring and loving person with a generous heart. His family and friends meant the most to him however; he loved to make everyone around him feel welcomed. He was the “best in-law ever” always helping out.

He enjoyed the outdoors, feeding birds, trout fishing, Golf, reading western novels, watching sports especially Golf, “junking” at flea markets and traveling. Steve also played on a Softball and Bowling League for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Deloris Lind; sister, Patty Becker and husband Don; brother, Jack Lind and sister-in-law Glenda Lind.

Steve is survived by his wife, Carla Lind; he opened his heart and arms to three children that he loved and claimed as his own, Julie and husband David Rockaway, Toby and wife Heather Barnes and Sara Jackson; he was extremely proud of his grandchildren who called him “gramps” Hayden Rockaway and Preston Barnes, three siblings, Linda and husband Charlie Wilt, Charles “Chuck” and wife Caroline Lind, James “Jim” Lind;  sister-in-law, Lin Lind; two brother-in-laws, Gary and wife Cheryl Prange and Duane Prange (Linda); numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

A graveside service celebrating Steve’s life has been scheduled for Friday, June 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery Clark, MO. If desired, memorial donations may be sent to the Olivet Christian Church at 1991 S. Olivet Rd. Columbia, MO 65201 or to the American Cancer Society at 2409 Hyde Park Rd. Jefferson City, MO 65109.
