Verlena Mae Clinton

Verlena Mae “Riley” Clinton, age 80, of Cairo, Missouri passed away surrounded by her family and went to be with the lord on November 1, 2023, at the Arbors in Moberly, Missouri.

Verlena was born on April 26, 1943, in Moberly, MO to Howard and Lenora “Mitchell” Specie.

Verlena graduated from Moberly High School. She then accepted a position with CBS “Computerized Business Systems” and then she went to work for Westlake’s and later retired from Ferrell Gas in 2008. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Verlena was a wonderful wife, mom, sister, mawmaw & friend. She was a social active woman who was deeply involved in the church and community for much of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her boys working on the farm or in the shop, going to the races, car shows, and church activities. She loved to cook and bake from scratch.

Verlena loved to travel. Her family and friends will always remember her love for everyone, friendship, and kindness. She was a wonderful pastor’s wife and a “people” person.

Verlena is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Lenora Specie, husband, Howard D. Riley and brother, Norris Specie.

Verlena is survived by her husband, Herbert Clinton of Cairo, MO, children, Howard (Lori) Riley of Cairo, MO, Jim (Lynne) Riley of Jacksonville, MO. Step-son’s, Greg (Mary Kay) Clinton, of Kansas City, MO, Kevin (Lisa) Clinton, of Springfield, MO and Doug (Melody) Clinton, of Sycamore, IL, grandchildren, Brandon (Katie) Riley, of Cairo, MO, Robyn (Keenan) Blanding, of Huntsville, MO and Brittany (Robert) Momphand, of Renick, MO. Great grandchildren, Norris Riley, Leighton Maag, Adalyn Blanding, Mckenzie, Madalyn, Mavery Momphard, extended family Donna “Russ” Smashey, LaVonne Morris and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral celebrating Verlena Mae “Riley” Clinton is scheduled for Monday, November 6, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, MO. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023, followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly, MO.
