Viola Mae Nickerson, 65, of Moberly passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born August 3, 1953 in West Plains, MO to Alford Welch and Vida Jones Welch. In 1971, she married Clifford Nickerson in Moberly, MO and they spent 48 wonderful years together. Viola received an accounting degree from State Technical College in Jefferson City and worked for Scholastic for a number of years before retiring. She was an active member of The Pentecostal Church in Moberly. Viola liked spending time with friends. She especially enjoyed her weekly lunches with her good friends Brenda and Paula. More than anything, Viola loved spending time with her grandchildren. They meant the world to her! Those preceding Viola in death are her parents, Alford and Vida Welch; her siblings, Louise Bloor, John Welch, Kenneth Welch, Frank Welch, Judy Welch and Thelma Henry and her daughter, April Nickerson. Survivors include her beloved husband, Clifford Nickerson of Moberly; her children, Mitchell (Kristie) Nickerson, Angela Nickerson and Rebecca (Shawn) Closser all of Moberly; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; siblings, James (Arlene) Welch of Freeman, MO, Lodine Griffith of Oklahoma, Wayne Welch, Donna (Roger) Moran, Leonard (Margaret) Welch and Larry Welch all of West Plains, MO; extended family and close friends. Services celebrating Viola’s life will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
