William Fletcher Slusing, affectionately known as Fletch, left this world peacefully on November 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 19, 1943, in Moberly, Missouri, to William and Virginia (Fletcher) Slusing.
A proud graduate of Moberly Senior High School, class of 1961, he carried the spirit and values instilled in him throughout his life.
A beloved husband, Fletch married his wife, Shirley Embree on December 14, 1963 at Coates Street Presbyterian Church where he also served as Deacon and Elder for many years. Together they raised a daughter, Crystal (Slusing) Hess, instilling in her the values of hard work and perseverance. Fletch delighted in being a grandfather to Allyson Hess and Brock Reed, often seen sharing laughter and watching sports with them, creating memories that will be cherished forever. His devoted dog, Ravi, also shared in the joy of Fletch's loving nature.
Fletch will forever be remembered for his remarkable career in professional picture framing at The Frame Works in Moberly, where his keen eye and artistic touch transformed countless memories into cherished pieces of art. He touched the lives of many through his work, bringing beauty into homes and the community.
Fletch was known not only for his talents but also for his love of life—his avid interest in golf led to two unforgettable hole-in-ones that he wore like badges of honor, a testament to his enthusiasm and competitive spirit. He was a member of a dart league and never missed a chance to cheer for his favorite teams: the Kansas City Chiefs, St, Louis Cardinals, and MU Tigers. His passion for aviation and history enriched his life, keeping his curiosity and love for learning alive.
Fletch is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Crystal (Slusing) Hess, of Moberly; Grandchildren, Allyson Hess of Columbia, MO and Brock Reed, of Jefferson City, MO, sister Caroline (Slusing) Major and brother Bill Slusing, along with many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who gathered around him to celebrate the joys of life, laughter, and friendship.
